About TSI

The Telemedicine Society of India (TSI) is a prominent professional body dedicated to advancing telemedicine and digital health in India. During the National Conference on Telemedicine held in Lucknow in April 2001, participants resolved to form a scientific society dedicated to telemedicine awareness at the national level. Thus, the Telemedicine Society of India was born and was formally registered as a society in the year 2006 with Lucknow as its headquarters.

Telemedicine, which involves delivering healthcare services remotely using information and communication technology, has emerged as a powerful tool for overcoming geographic barriers, improving healthcare access, and addressing healthcare disparities. Since its inception, TSI has been playing a pivotal role in promoting the adoption of digital health and telemedicine practices across the country.

Today, TSI leverages AI-driven, state-of-the-art IoT and Cyber Physical Systems to create and deliver anytime, anywhere healthcare services that are accessible, affordable, citizen-centric, and sustainable.

TSI’s primary mission is to foster the growth of telemedicine and digital health in India by promoting research, development, and implementation of telemedicine and digital health technologies. The society works to raise awareness about the benefits of telemedicine and digital health, particularly in remote and underserved areas where healthcare access is limited.

Additionally, TSI’s objectives include setting standards for telemedicine practice, promoting ethical guidelines, and influencing policy to create a conducive environment for telemedicine and digital health adoption across healthcare sectors.

The society serves as a platform for professionals from various sectors such as healthcare, technology, and governance to collaborate, exchange knowledge, and contribute to the evolution of telemedicine and digital health.

By bringing together doctors, researchers, IT professionals, government officials, and entrepreneurs, TSI helps foster interdisciplinary collaboration that drives innovation in telemedicine and digital health.

The society has nearly 1500 members including individual life members, institutional members, corporate members, start-up members, and overseas members.

TSI has twenty-one State Chapters that organize training programs, continuing medical education programs, conferences, and symposiums. Over the years, TSI has undertaken several initiatives to promote the growth and adoption of telemedicine and digital health in India.

The society has been actively involved in policy advocacy and has worked closely with government agencies to shape regulations and policies that support the development of telemedicine and digital health in India.
