The 3rd National Conference of the Telemedicine Society of India is to be held in conjunction with the 12th International Conference of the International Society for Telemedicine and eHealth on 2nd & 3rd November 2007, in Chennai. Telehealth is relevant in South Asia, where health resources are limited and giant strides are being made in Information & Communication Technology. This conference will serve as a one-stop-shop to review the current issues in Telehealth, with specific reference to developing countries. The meeting organized by Apollo Hospitals, Sankara Nethralaya and Sri Ramachandra Medical University is supported by ISRO, Department of Science & Technology Govt. of India. About 40 delegates from overseas are expected. About 400 delegates are expected from India. The pioneers of Telemedicine in India will share their teething problems and demonstrate how persistence has ultimately paid off. The trade exhibition will showcase need based; cost-effective, customized appropriate technology that can be used to ensure outreach of healthcare. The Telemedicine Society of India came into being with a donation of Rs 5 lakhs from ISRO. Fifty 0fficers of the Armed Forces Medical Services immediately became life members. Dr. S.S.Badrinath, Chairman, Sankara Nethralaya is the first president, Sri Bhaskernarayana of ISRO the Vice President, Prof Saroj Mishra of SGPGI Lucknow the secretary and Prof. K.
