Mr Sangal has about 37 years of experience in use of Satcom in societal development including tele-health care and e-governance. An M. Tech. in communication engineering he was associated with Satellite Instruction Television Experiment (SITE) and telecommunications programmes viz. STEP, AUP under various capacities. He was member of International Satellite Navigation System study group and also International Search and Rescue (Cospas Sarsat) Program.
He is widely traveled and won a year UN fellowship at European Space Agency, where he was associated with Eutelsat and Olympus space programs. He was deeply involved in INSAT system studies.
He was instrumental in initiating pilot Telemedicine trials during 2001 and subsequently in some states while in DECU/ISRO. This has now taken up national level shape under ISRO HQ. He presented several papers in Telemedicine and healthcare national and international level including at Global healthcom, ISfTeH- 2006 at Capetown and ISfTeH –2007. He was also Chairman of organizing committee for National level Users’ meet and member organising committee of International Telemedicine and e-health conference(IsfTeH), Worked as Group Director of Configuration and Systems Studies Analysis Group in DECU/ISRO and was also Deputy Program Director (Network), Gramsat Program. Under the program he was involved in assisting establishment of Integrated Development Communication Networks and Uplinks in several states of India. Gramsat network setup in Andmans extensively supported post Tsunami operations.
He is Fellow member of IETE and Life Member of Astronomical Society of India, Indian Geomagnetic Society (IGS) & Indian Meteorological Society, Indian Association of Medical Informatics (IAM), Indian national Cartographic association (INCA), Executive member of Telemedicine Society of India (TSI).
